Inside

Ensconced in greenery in a small North Devonshire village, The Secret Garden is a truly stunning property with fabulous views of the lush Devon valley. Set behind high walls to the town and open to the countryside, the grounds are beautiful, let your imagination run wild and escape in the magical secret garden or simply relax within the neatly trimmed lawns. Inside this Victorian rectory, period furniture combines with quirky finds in spacious rooms that span three floors. A cottage sleeping 4 and a studio sleeping 2 makes this the perfect family retreat.

• Style: Traditional with a contemporary twist.
• Bedrooms: Character and charm combine in the bedrooms. In the main house there are nine bedrooms in total, eight en suite. On the first floor, there are five double rooms, most which enjoy stunning garden views. Comfort reigns in these rooms; think sumptuous mattresses and crisp linens complimented with antique furnishings. Up to the second floor, there's a 3-bedded room, two doubles and a bunk room with 2 x sets of bunks. The cottage has 1 twin room (perfect for teens) and a Queen double with clawfoot bath. The studio has a 3-bedded room (double plus single en suite)
• Bathrooms: In the main house (aside from one second floor bedroom) all bedrooms are en suite and range from bathroom with showers over to clawfoot baths. The cottage has 2 bathrooms (one on each floor)
• For relaxation: If the weather is beautiful, then you won’t want to be anywhere other than reclining in the garden, which is truly stunning! Inside, there’s the den/TV room, perfect for chilling out after a day exploring the Dart Valley, or the more adult sitting/dining room surrounded by art works and sculptures.
• For recreation: The snooker room - separate from the main house – is a great space. Complete with cinema screen and full size snooker table as well as Sky TV.
• Practicalities: There is a laundry room with washing and drying machine at the property.

Outside

A stunning outdoor salt water swimming pool, with a very Mediterranean feel. From reclining on the sun loungers and taking in the countryside views, to a BBQ on the terrace, you'll really feel as if you're getting away from it all here. There’s also a sauna and hot tub as well as an artificial grass tennis court (racquet's provided) for those of you feeling energetic. Lose yourself in the secret garden, take some me time in the grotto, as perfect for a bit of peace and quiet as a beautiful wedding snap. The croquet lawn doubles up as a marquee lawn if you're looking for the perfect summer wedding venue.

Food and Wine

• DIY: The family kitchen complete with AGA is small but perfectly formed with a table for 8. There is a beautiful more formal dining table just next to the kitchen. The second kitchen - aka the caterers kitchen - houses a large gas oven and microwave as well as the laundry facilities. There is a great local veg shop to stock your larder.
• In-house cuisine: Whether you fancy a home cooked meal on arrival or a three-course celebratory meal, local catering contacts can be provided.
• Eating out: The local pub, The Red Lion, is just a stone's throw from the house if you fancy a change of scenery and they can cater for large groups.
• Good Local Pubs: Approximately 500 metres from the house is The Red Lion serving good fresh country food, locally sourced and organic where possible.

Getting there

• On the map: Located in a quaint village setting, within half an hour of the coast.
• By Car: The house is around 3 hrs from London
• By Train: The nearest train station is Tiverton which is 30 mins from the house. You can catch a direct train and arrive in London in 2hrs.
• By Air: There is an airfield four miles from the property for light aircraft. Exeter Airport is around 50 miles from the house.

Out and About

• There's plenty to amuse on site, from the games room to the swimming pool. Everything from yoga to massage and art lessons can be arranged.
• This is a great area for hiking; don your walking boots and head to the hills!
• There are six bikes on site if you prefer to get about on two wheels
